I used these bottles on a camping trip. They were filled with different types of liquids for my trip. I poured soy sauce, greens and olive oil. Although the bottles are claimed to be airtight, I still put them in a small, appetizer-sized ziplock bag. Luckily I did when the soy sauce bottle was spilled on me and messed up the inside of the zipper. However, the bottles with the oil were fine. It turned out that the leak was due to the closure of the cap and not the connection of the cap to the bottle. To full disclosure, the journey I was on took me from sea level to about 10km so pressurization might be a factor, but if you were planning on taking these bottles on a plane I would DEFINITELY put them in. ziploc. I wouldn't trust them to roll around freely in your backpack/luggage. When I got home I tried washing them in the washing machine as it's almost impossible to hand wash them unless you have a small brush that fits in the narrow opening. Oops, as I suspected, plastic bottles don't survive the wash cycle. You have melted. I personally would NOT recommend these bottles and would look elsewhere next time.
