This item was so helpful to my 4 year old! He is taller than the average 4 year old (wears a size 6/7) and is nowhere near oversized. I would say it will take 2-6 years. We use it for coloring and activities, snacks etc. From my photos you can see the basket under the drawer is a good size and holds a lot of material. We just wipe it down with a regular all purpose cleaner and it works really well. You may consider that if you remove the red cup and simply place the drink in the cup, drinks are actually more stable and less likely to spill. Hole. Most cups fit in there. We found that the cups moved and were less stable when we placed them in the red cup. The red cup is more suitable for storing pens and markers during class. We've had it for about 3 months now and use it almost constantly (our little one loves to sit here, even while watching tv) and hasn't managed to damage it and if it keeps up I'd say it's quite durable . I've refrained from watching it just to make sure it's holding up as my little one is pretty rough on things. We had a friend who saw this and immediately wanted one. We had other children's chairs, bean bags, tables etc. None of them were ever used until we received this little gem.
