This stretcher is perfect for flying! My cat is 22 pounds, big chubby! I can still carry it with the old backpack carrier we have, but there isn't enough room in that backpack to rest. This one is almost perfect except for the marker part (it's not that easy to carry with a marker pen, maybe a design issue or maybe my chump is just too heavy). Even if the two extended sides are not extended, it can easily lie in the carrier. I can actually fit two small boxes with my cat in it (plenty of room with the sides extended) and it fits perfectly under an airplane seat.
