I took apart one of the cables I received to test it. As far as I can tell it follows the ISO specification for CAT6a. Of the three standards, CAT6a ISO is the strictest. It's worth noting that this is *fully shielded* CAT6a. There are several variants of CAT6a; The more common ones are usually partially shielded and have an X-shaped barrier separating the twisted pairs. In this variation, each pair is individually wrapped in foil and then all four pairs are wrapped together. This usually provides better protection against crosstalk. There's a catch, though: the metal connectors on each end aren't just for show. They must be grounded for maximum performance. Otherwise you only have an overpriced CAT5e cable. That means you need devices that support STP cables; they must be grounded and their RJ45 connectors must be plated. If none of the inserted ends have a metal-clad RJ45 jack that makes contact with the metal of the cable, you're wasting your money; Get the unescaped (UTP) option instead. Dimensions: Each conductor consists of 7 copper strands. The individual threads have a diameter of 0.142 mm. The theoretical conductor diameter for ideal packing ranges from 0.369 mm to 0.426 mm. The measured conductor diameter was about 0.43 mm. This places the wire at or slightly above 26 AWG, which is typical for this option. Conductor insulation is ordinary foam. Shielded with aluminum and mylar with the mylar facing in. The outer insulation turned out to be PVC. The bend radius is about 2 inches - don't bend it too much. 3 Foot Jacket Label: Cable Matters 550MHz RoHS COMPLIANT E213738-Y 26AWG 4PR CM (UL) C(UL) 60Β°C VERIFIED ISO/IEC 11801 AND TIA/EIA 568B CAT6A
