Extreme 32GB memory (non-fake) burned a Garmin internal chartplotter and a finger. After 2 years of daily use of 1 of 2 32GB Sandisk Extreme microSD memory cards, it decided to self-destruct in its waterproof compartment. The card literally melted the Garmin case around the microSD slot. Remember these two year old identical 32GB Sandisk Micro SD cards were bought together and left untouched for a month. When my routes weren't saving in slot 1, I knew something was wrong. I tried to pull out a tiny card and burned my finger. I then grabbed an IR temperature sensor and measured over 260 degrees Fahrenheit around the map. After powering off the device, I used needle nose pliers to remove the card. As he got out, he pulled the black plastic from the melted Garmin case seen in the photos below. Slot 1 was destroyed, but luckily slot 2 still works perfectly. I have contacted Sandisk support multiple times with these photos and a detailed description of the problem. They "ACT" like they really are sorry! First they want to do a map analysis, which can take 6-8 weeks. Wait 8 weeks and nothing. Contact and they say the card was defective and will send a replacement. A few days after contacting them again, I received a replacement card. 3. Contacting Sandisk I tell them I don't care about the $15 map, it's my primary navigation tool that matters here. After long conversations in their "chat", which by the way was the fastest means of communication I could get, they tell me that the dispatcher is trying to call, but my landline isn't working. I call him from my cell phone and it's fine, very rarely does he come out, I also call Sandisk support from him 1 (866) 726-3475 and get their standard recorded message so I know it is working. I ask them to try again, no they say my phone is not working. In any case, you get the idea. Sandisk drives me in circles trying to tire me out enough to give up the challenge, which I eventually did. After calling, waiting and chatting for months only to be rejected, I will NEVER buy another Sandisk or Western Digital product! I've owned over 40 Sandisk cards, from my first 48MB compact flash card to a 128GB microSD card. my other expensive electronics that have sandisk extreme or ultra. This is a warning! Note that Sandisk Extreme cards can ruin your expensive device. Think DSLR, high-end audio, tablets, etc. I've gone beyond reasonable effort with Sandisk to at least investigate my corrupted microSD slot, to no avail. They fail and some fail, like mine. Don't be a fool - don't buy Sandisk - I repeat, don't buy Sandisk!
