Post bypass surgery The heart rate function of the Fenix 5X and the chest monitor are very important. The Garmin HRM is a handy chest heart rate monitor that can be easily connected to my Fenix 5X at any time. I'm so comfortable I wear it golfing and cycling. History taught me how to install a new battery right out of the box, so longevity isn't an issue. It also has ANT functionality but only gets 4 stars because it cannot connect/talk to commercial exercise bikes or Precor ellipticals at the gym. Don't check treadmills at the gym. Because of this, I also have a Polar H10 HRM monitor, which easily connects to the Fenix 5X and interacts with the trainers.
