Well-made Z-Wave controlled switch for pool pumps and other high current electrical devices

If you're looking for a Z-Wave switch to control your pool, water heater, or other high-current electrical equipment, your options are limited. Leviton sold one product (CA3750) but it was discontinued and did not work. reliable (these devices often lost connection to your Z-Wave network and often had to be reprogrammed). GE sells the product (I have no experience installing and using it). show that the switch is contained in a plain white square box. It's rated IP44, which means it's "splash-proof from all directions." Can it be used outdoors? I would say maybe. The case is certainly not as rugged as the Nema 3R certified case that offers protection from rain, wind, dust, etc. Mine is installed in my garage, I probably wouldn't mount this unit outside without another case. Attaching the wires to this switch is a bit interesting. Typical Nema 3R packages can use a standard Romex wire clamp. With this product, both wires enter the product through rubber grommets on the bottom of the device that must be cut with a knife or razor blade. Inside the box there are 2 plastic clips fixed with threaded screws (both metal threaded screw and bolt are available compared to a metal self-tapping screw that screws into the plastic of the case) which ensure a strong attachment to the box. little interesting. The product comes with several crimp connectors for cable lugs. I chose not to use these connectors and connected the 12-2 wire directly to the switch. I also had to spend some time going through the manual to determine which terminals on the switch to use for a single pole circuit. Of course, you can control the switch through the Z-Wave system, but the switch also has a button for control. it is by hand. When you press the button, the switch turns on the circuit and the red LED lights up. One odd design feature here is that the switch isn't visible or clearly labeled when the lid is attached, and you simply press the face of the lid to operate the switch. If you press hard enough, the button on the switch in the cover will be depressed and the light from the LED will shine through the plastic, letting you know the switch is on. controller. This may be interesting information for some people. Conclusion: This is a well-made product that works reliably. I would definitely buy this product again.
