Review on πŸ”¦ Glowstone 14 Inch Corded LED Desk Night Light for Bedroom, Living Room, Office - Decorative, Fun, Safe & Awesome Lamp Toy for Baby, Boys, Teen, Adults & Gamers - Best for Minecraft Enthusiasts by Tabitha Anderson

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Bad/cheap engineering choices ruined what could have been a great lamp.

I will keep this review short and simple as Revain has been censoring my reviews lately for reasons they are not telling me. The overall design is beautiful and makes a nice accent for my daughter's Minecraft themed bedroom. The construction feels solid enough and the choice of colors is good. It includes a 60W LED bulb, which I was pleased to see. Unfortunately, there are three shortcomings that push the rating of this lamp down. The first and most important - the lampshade is not in place. If you look at the photos in the product description, the bulb is basically in the center of the glowstone, illuminates it evenly as it should be and looks nice (even the assembly diagram shows the bulb in the center of the glowstone). In the actual product, the bulb sits just below the top edge of the lampshade; See my third photo. This means that (a) the glowing stone will be unevenly lit and (b) if you have a lamp on a low table, such as a a dresser or bedside table, which is probably because it's a bedroom lamp - see my accompanying photo. - then you will be constantly blinded by the tip of the bare bulb. And since this bulb is 60 watts, it's a powerful light that shines straight into your eyes. The lampshade needs to be raised about 2-3 inches and there is no way to fix this. This is VERY bad technique. My other two complaints are more subjective. The power switch is built into the power cord, which I've always hated and looks cheap (because it is). Here's this beautiful lamp on the table, but the look is ruined because you have to expose a spool of wire to get to the power switch? turn the lamp on yourself, but no, because it costs a few cents more and God forbid sacrificing a penny for the sake of quality. Finally, the luminous stone lampshade itself is small. That might even fix the open bulb problem, but even if it didn't, a larger lampshade would make that bulb look better.

Pros
  • Not only useful for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Something is wrong
