First of all, this is the bottom of most monitor stands I've used, only 3 inches high (metal from office supply stores). are 4"). However, it works for the desk I have it on. The main reason I chose this is for the base. I put my laptop underneath and connect a hub to it. Most other stands do don't give way to the bottom after me and then the cables bend or I have to turn the laptop sideways or I can't reach the other ports on the laptop.No more problems!The small drawer is also very handy for things like stickers , pens and chopsticks It's made of hard plastic but has rubber on the bottom and also on the sides of the legs where they fold down to protect your desk Very happy with it!
