Review on πŸŽ™οΈ OM Digital Solutions VN-5200PC SEO-Enhanced Digital Voice Recorder by Isaiah Bower

I might have had a lemon

First I had a VN3100, then I switched to a VN4100PC, both very decent units. When I saw the VN5200PC with more memory and a slightly better feature set, I thought this would be the one for me! Well, I was wrong, regardless of the size of the room, the voices picked up by the built-in microphone are always low or muffled, sometimes inaudible. You need to be within a few feet of the device to get decent audio definition. Maybe mine is in lemon, I haven't tested that possibility, but it's really disappointing nonetheless. On the other hand, I bought an external Olympus microphone ME52W for this device, and now voices are louder when played back, regardless of the size of the room. I'm talking the size of a conference room, not an auditorium. It would be nice if the device would work normally without an additional external microphone. Another annoyance is the lack of an organizer program for your PC. The VN4200PC came with a very simple but very useful program that allowed you to sort and save your recordings on your PC. The VN5200PC does not. The best you can do is copy the files to the hard drive and then use another program to figure out how to organize and store the recordings. Until now, this has been a lengthy and tedious process. In short, this module would be great if only two things were thought of. 1) Useful built-in microphone. 2) Just update VN4200PC File Organizer for VN5200PC. As it stands, it's not worth the trouble or the price.
