I bought the medium size for my 12 year old son. He had just grown to a size 14-16 when he was young so I went for a medium size in this sweatshirt. It's not a thick cotton sweatshirt, but it's not a regular long-sleeved sweatshirt either, more like a mix of the two. The average torso length is perfect for him but the arms are about 5 inches longer but they have cuffs that stop at his wrists so they stop unless he intentionally pulls his sleeves down. He's a little 12 year old and the environment is great for him and leaves room for growth. I wanted to be sure and figured he could grow into it if it didn't fit. My son loves this. It's not amazing quality but he doesn't care and is very happy with it.
