the thing looks like a rock and the retaining springs are very strong. Unfortunately, the phones don't fit in length (clamped together), but they do in width. My phone (I have a Kyocera Dura Force Pro phone) has buttons on the sides that don't allow this attachment due to the location of the clips. So I use it for a small portable radio holder that I needed. If your phone doesn't have side buttons, you're good to go. When closed, it takes up almost no space on the grill.
