I bought my Anova on Kickstarter when they first came out for $100. The app worked great, letting you know when your water was going to be hot and then starting a timer when the water was the right temperature. A few years later, an investment group bought Anova from me. You now have to sign up for the app to use it, and your email address has been sold to some kind of marketing. Fast forward another year and I'm presented with an unauthorized firmware update for my anova app with new features like a no longer working timer, a permanent disconnect from the heater and my saved recipes. I got stuck there with numerous updates that rendered the app unusable. It took 15-30 minutes to get this damn thing working. I couldn't anymore, found Yedi for $100 with no app. First cooking with it was wonderful, no problems using it, it heats up faster than Anova. 10 minutes for the water to reach the temperature of the cooked shrimp. Anova is still sitting on the counter next to my sous vide pots, I'm not even tempted to try it and see what a terrible upgrade they've made lately. Oh, and Anova is now up to $200 for Posen. Eat Simply is the best and easiest way to heat a pot of water. Love it 9/25/21 After several 24 hour cooks at 140-155, my appliance didn't cook 160 degrees in 15 hours. The hole in the casing was stretched causing the impeller to hit the casing. I fixed this by adding 2 screws. It will be interesting to see if it can withstand the high temperature brew.
