I bought this mainly to use as a laptop travel case to replace my Marmot Gunnison which I have had since I was a student (8 years). My main motivation for the upgrade was the lack of room for a laptop in my Marmot bag - I recently bought a 17-inch gaming laptop that barely fit in my old bag. fits in easily. The laptop compartment is well padded and the attachment strap is long enough to easily zip even a laptop of this size. To be honest I would be comfortable carrying a gaming laptop + ultrabook or tablet , the laptop compartment theoretically has a full zip opening either way - a nice touch, although my experience with various TSA checkpoints belies its usefulness - half of them insist you take the laptop out of the bag entirely anyway, making it pointless power. The bag is ok, not much to write about in particular, but the other main compartment has enough space to store clothes for the weekend. For easy storage of the battery pack/mouse etc. The USB pass-through port is a nice touch so you can leave the battery pack (provided by you) in your pocket and plug it in outside. ok this bag lasts a long time but it seems to be constructed so well that i don't have too many problems. Considering the price of this bag compared to some of the big bag brands (Timbuk2, Chrome, Fjallraven etc) I felt it was worth the risk and so far I'm very happy with it.
