Review on Cooling Balaclava For Sun Protection And Breathable Comfort During Cycling And Running by Ken Lawson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for wind protection while cycling.

I cycle to work and wear balaclava face masks mostly for protection from the wind and sun. There's definitely a lot of sand and debris that gets thrown up by trucks on the highway so I appreciate protection from that as well. These EXski masks are fine for summer use and allow enough air flow that I'm not burning up inside. I don't get them wet to start and I only wear them as full head and face coverings. The portion that covers the nose isn't terribly tight but that's usually an easy adjustment . I find certain sunglasses will fog if I'm not in motion like when I'm waiting to cross at an intersection. I've learned to direct my breath downwards when I get to a light and have to wait, otherwise I can't see when the light changes. The neck is long enough to tuck into most of my cycling jerseys that have collars. It's not long enough if the shirt has no collar. The neck and most of the mask is loose by design. It's not the most attractive look (for me the tight lycra looks better) but it is comfortable. It's mostly covered by the helmet and glasses anyhow. The mouth/nose covering section can be pulled down easily to drink water.I like these and think the two pack is a good deal.

Pros
  • Stay Cool: This cooling balaclava provides excellent sun protection while also keeping you cool and comfortable during long runs or cycling sessions
Cons
  • The balaclava design may not be suitable for individuals who wear glasses or sunglasses, as the fit may cause discomfort and hinder their visibility during outdoor activities
