Review on πŸ’‰ Mehron Makeup Stage Blood - Dark Venous (1 oz) by Christina Ford

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good corn syrup based blood

I bought some of the two colors for a Halloween photo shoot and I have to say they look very realistic depending on the wounds. Shallow cuts work well for light cuts, while dark venous cuts are great for deep cuts. Although bright photos are better. Granted it's very gooey because it's a corn syrup recipe, but it's as sticky as dried blood. It's also worth noting that the product was actually stale when I got it in my mouth, so it might be an old product that I received. (I don't plan on eating it, so I'm not mad about it. I'm deducting a star for it because if you do, you can buy it directly from Mechron.) If spread thinly enough, dark blood looks similar looks like light blood, and blood can dry out a bit. I ended up using a damp rag to clean myself and any dried stains that were clinging to my lighting gear. It came off with moderate or no effort depending on how dry it was and there were absolutely no stains even without soap. It drips slowly when wet so be careful. Smaller sizes (e.g. 1 oz) also come with brush applicators attached to the lid, larger sizes (e.g. 9 oz) do not.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Makes me nervous
