Revainrating 1 out of 5

2nd batch of cartridge chips installed upside down

2021 Rating: Update: I downgraded my rating to 1 star due to Jarbo not responding to numerous emails including those asking for postage receipt and read receipt. If you have a problem, it looks like they don't answer. This is an update to my previous 5 star rating from a previous order. With the first pair of cartridges in 2019, everything was fine. But this time, when I reordered in July 2021, I had problems with an error message that a cartridge was not found. First of all, I would like to note that the appearance of the cartridge is slightly different compared to the first set, including the way the chip is installed. I've tried all the usual things to get it working, like turning off the printer and unplugging it. I suspect a lot of people don't know how to fix this. I have previously emailed Jarbo Support. I will inform you about the problem. After an hour of fiddling, I removed the cover that contains the chip. Eventually I found that the chip was installed the wrong way round on both cartridges. Once I flipped it, it worked flawlessly. Attached are 2 photos taken from the back of the cartridge with the chip removed on top of the cartridge in front of the cartridge slot. A small cover is placed over the chip socket and must be removed to gain access to the chip. The image with the notches on the chip facing in shows how the cartridge came from Jarbo. THAT IS NOT RIGHT. The second picture shows two outward facing notches, and rightly so. At 4000 normal text pages, it starts to lighten up. I use high quality bright Costco paper, not super cheap paper. I shook the cartridge once and it got back to normal, but it doesn't usually take long. The seller advertises 6,000 pages at 5% coverage. It's always hard to tell what a given user's average coverage really is, so this may just reflect the higher coverage printout I created. But I would rate it as a very good deal. Let's see how the subsequent cartridges behave. Samsung Print Manager shows only 50% of the toner has been used. I'm not sure how it calculates the remaining toner.
