Great Branded Phone for Panasonic KX-TA824 System

This is a great phone to use with the Panasonic KX-TA824 Controller and perhaps some other Panasonic Advanced Hybrid Phone Systems. Please note that you cannot connect this phone to a regular phone line or VOIP network connection. This phone is designed to operate exclusively with Panasonic system units. You can place your phone on a table or mount it on a wall using a standard modular wall plate. I have a big house and I wanted to have several phones that can be used not only as a phone but also as an intercom. I was considering installing Asterisk on a Linux machine or purchasing remote PBX service from a VOIP provider. I have previously managed medium sized enterprise systems with VOIP extensions and ISDN PRI trunks and deploying and maintaining them was challenging. For the home or small and medium sized business, Panasonic systems are much easier to install and set up. By default, Panasonic systems are nearly plug-and-play, allowing features to be enabled as the administrator becomes more sophisticated. It's nice when you don't have to jump on your hips on the first day, but still have a working system. I really like that the KX-TA824 automatically detects proprietary and legacy analog extensions, even dial-in extensions. It's great not having to buy a whole bunch of new phones to start with. This phone offers a lot of features for the money. Dedicated buttons make it easy to receive, send, or conference between extensions, including older analog phones. Hands-free calling is excellent, with great volume and clarity, with little to no echo. The backlit keys feel comfortable. One thing to note is that this phone requires a four-wire modular wall cable. If you buy a longer wall cord, make sure you have a cord with all four wires. If you don't want to deal with the VOIP ramp, that's a good way to go.
