I chose this portable USB powered LED light because it is dimmable and has an on/off switch. While it works well, it would be nice if it returned to the brightness you set it to after turning it off and on again. You'll have to adjust the level every time you turn it on as it resets to 100%. Also, I'm not too happy with his gooseneck part. While easily adjustable, it doesn't seem to allow for easy "twisting" of the light tube portion to better angle it where you want it. If you want to achieve this, you'll have to try twisting and maneuvering the gooseneck instead, which isn't easy. It would be better if they let the tube itself rotate slightly to get the right angle. I suspect some people won't have this problem depending on the angle of your USB port and where it's placed, but I use this in conjunction with the Vertical Right Angle USB 3.0 Male to Female Adapter because it's from my Hardware is rack mountable, which puts it on its side on the USB side. But it's better than taking it straight out of my rack mount and trying to set it at an even more awkward angle. Another minor annoyance is where they placed the button. As mentioned, the gooseneck is "slightly" adjustable. Actually, it's a bit too easy. A light touch on any part of the light source and you've just moved the light source away from where you've just spent all that time trying to hit that perfect angle/point. That being said, even the lightest touch you have to do to turn the light on moves the entire light/gooseneck. And clicking Dim makes it worse. I wish they had used a stiffer gooseneck. I'd rather struggle initially to get a crude gooseneck in place than have something that moves so freely you hardly want to miss breathing. Again, this may not bother you depending on what and where you plan to use. But my light and my goals require it to be in the exact position at the exact angle. Otherwise it either interferes with my other rack hardware and knobs or doesn't light up where I need it (otherwise... it shines right in my eyeballs... oops). The light is fine for its price and performance. It's VERY bright. I love that I can take it with me if I also have one and it's definitely a lot cheaper and a lot brighter than traditional gooseneck BNC lights meant for rack mount equipment. Not to mention where else will you be using them? It's definitely not your laptop. If you have a portable USB battery pack like the Anker, you can also use it as a portable flashlight or reading light. I can't say whether other light sources are better. But it seems to be one of the few that has an on/off button, which I also needed. If you don't need one, I would suggest finding one that has a stronger gooseneck and is more adjustable in lamp angle. The light itself is very bright and does a great job of illuminating my workspace.
