Review on πŸ”Š Enhanced Klipsch RP-140SA Dolby Atmos Speaker by Dan Quiceno

Revainrating 5 out of 5

These speakers have a slot on the back for wall mounting, no additional accessories are required.

I bought a pair of these Atmos/Height speakers a year and a half ago and put them on top of a pair of Klipsch floorstanding speakers that face up towards the ceiling to get the sound reflection from the ceiling go up me back Do not attempt this with an Atmos speaker. Any sound expert will tell you that trying to bounce sound off the ceiling back into your listening area is a crappy experience. So I attached them to the wall under the ceiling pointing at me and it makes a big difference. So I recently decided to finally buy a back set again, under the covers again and straight down into the listening area. If one set is good, then two sets of these speakers will sound fantastic. The sound effects while watching Fallout Mission: Impossible were great. At the end of the movie, during the helicopter chase scene, the helicopter blades literally sounded like they were right over my head. Very impressive! Overall, Klipsch makes quality speakers and my entire 9.1 surround system, with the exception of the SVS subwoofer, is made by Klipsch and powered by a Marantz SR7011 AVR receiver. I've set the crossover on the Atmos/Height speakers to 100Hz, although I'm sure you can set it to 80Hz, which is the Dolby THX standard. Klipsch claims these are full range speakers. Personally, I would only use them as an atmos/height speaker for ambient noise. I've heard some people use them as regular surround speakers, but I wouldn't use them as such. I prefer speakers with a more dynamic frequency range to surround speakers. I would recommend them to others, they are reasonably priced at $300 at the time of this review. If you place them in the right spot and calibrate them properly with the AVR, you'll get great sound quality from these speakers.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
