Bell sleeves if you follow the pattern exactly, open at elbow level in the crook of the arm. We removed and reattached the bell so that it opens where the arm bends, at the bend. It's hard to explain without pictures. In any case, when sewing a bell onto a sleeve, I recommend not sticking to the pattern markings, but rather putting on the suit sleeve of the person it is intended for and marking where you want to place the bell before sewing. This saves you time and headaches. The rest of the pattern is great. I took the largest size and then had to go up in some places and down in others and ended up with a beautiful dress for my friend who was going to a medieval wedding.
