I bought this after picking up a rescued 15 lb cat. He didn't seem interested in using one of my ground claws and the scratching post for scratching posts was too small for him. It was a high altitude. It has since been used by my smaller cat and current rescue facility less than 6 months old. He loves to climb on it to get toys on it. It is very sweet. None of the 4 to 15 pound cats have knocked or knocked it over so it's a good sturdy scratching post. If you have a cat that likes to scratch high spots, this might help.
