Bought this pillow for my 16 month old daughter. We never bought a pillow for my 3 year old until he moved to bed but my daughter has some drainage issues and often gets colds so we thought this might help. cot. It occupies about 1/3 the width of a normal crib mattress, so there is enough space around it not to be used. She still doesn't use it, but I don't think it has anything to do with the pillow. She plays with him sure enough - even when she goes to bed she still likes to just lie down. I deducted a star because the 'matching' pillowcase fits the pillow and not the pink velor pillowcase shown in the picture. This way you get a colored pillowcase and a natural pillowcase with a woven structure instead of fluffy velour. My kids at least think it means a completely different pillow, which means it's really useless. I think the product would be better if it had two of the same cases or just one and a discounted price so someone could buy the right case. Maybe a bit picky of me but 5 stars must be hard to beat and the extra firmness and pillowcase doesn't help much, I can't give it a 5. I would recommend it. One final note: it's probably strong enough for a baby to use as a stepping stone to climb out of their crib. I'm at least a few months away from worrying about this, but other people might be a little closer to the point of no return. Although sometimes she's still just on her mattress, most of the time she's on that pillow when we leave her room and on it when we pick it up in the morning. I'll buy a second one to use at her daycare. I'll probably leave the pink bedspreads at home and send plain white ones to school. She is quite a young child for her age so the pillow still fits her well but I think she will be fine for at least 6 more years. Months. She didn't use it as a 'stage' at all, but now she has Purple Leapfrog in her crib too and it would be just as effective. So it doesn't bother me anymore.
