This is a great studio light to add to your collection. In fact, we have several of these GVM lights and they all get along well with each other. This one is no different. The light can get pretty bright and stay put in your setup. It's not the brightest, but they still cost a little more, so that's to be expected. This is a good average light. The construction of the light is pretty solid, and the controls include a simple knob that turns it on and off and adjusts the brightness as you keep turning it. Setup doesn't take long. Tripod->Light->Insert! This is a softbox that will take some time to install (this can be common with some of these brands). You may wonder at first how they connect, but the poles insert into the body of the softbox and the end with the attached tip goes through the loop and into the little black pockets on the front of the softbox. The other end is inserted into the round mounting holes. Do them all this way, and you'll start sculpting the softbox. Then attach the two diffuser sections (this part is obvious and requires no data). The bracket will then rotate and snap onto the lantern. We found that one of the tips of one of the poles was not attached. Apparently the glue didn't work. Nothing that Gorilla Glue wouldn't help. The tripod has a good height that should help you in most situations. Anything higher and you'll likely be hanging from a truss bar or pole. The tripod seems strong enough to support the weight of the light. For what you get with this kit we thought it was a good deal for an LED solution like this.
