Revainrating 3 out of 5

You can't program the backlight on this keyboard!?!?

This is a fairly expensive keyboard. I'll say that, I like the quality, weight and feel of the keyboard. It can connect via a Bluetooth connection or with the included dongle. Big! With the included cool LED lighting, I thought it would be the perfect solution for two PCs, one for work and one for play. I was able to easily use wireless peripherals with both machines and didn't have to deal with a bunch of cables. Can you imagine my disappointment when I found that this expensive keyboard didn't have the ability to easily program the keys to light up as a whole? Color without running your software in the background? Well that's a pretty big disappointment. I use this keyboard to connect to multiple PCs and it just doesn't do the job as my work PC can't control the keyboard backlight! WHY?!?! It seems that such a simple function resides in the keyboard. UPDATE!: Okay, so I'm changing my original rating of this keyboard to 4 stars. Why? Well, I found this keyboard had a few tricks up its sleeve. If you don't want to use the included software, you'll need to use a few keyboard shortcuts on the board, and you can change the default effects that appear when the software isn't running. You can press the number key multiple times to view the available colors. Fn+CTRL+1 = Light Off Fn+CTRL+2 Static Color Fn+CTRL+3 LED Breathing Fn+CTRL+4 Color Cycle Fn+CTRL+5 Rainbow Wave (press 5 again in reverse) Fn + CTR: + 6 I don't know what it's called, but the buttons light up when pressed and disappear. Fn + CTRL + 7 random keys light up in all directions. Important information if you work on several PCs like me and cannot/do not want to use the Synapse software.
