For years (and years) we've been using a few old nappies as handy household towels. But they are worn and dirty. So I ordered a dozen new bird's eye diapers. Pros: Compared to the old diapers where two edges were plain woven and the other edges were trimmed with lighter zigzag shears, these new diapers are nicely hemmed on all four edges. .The diapers seem to be well made. While the fabric isn't particularly heavy (its loose weave is said to be more absorbent), the thread quality and gauge seem to make for long-term wear and tear. Small drawback: New diapers are "rougher" than diapers that are more than 40 years old. - old diapers that have been washed hundreds of times. It was a little unexpected. but it is logical that it takes several washes before the roughness disappears. (Please note if they are intended for use on a child I do not believe they are so harsh as to cause discomfort on a child's sensitive skin). If I need more diapers in another 30 or 40 years I will definitely consider ordering them again.
