I like these and they are quite soft for the price you pay with good quality which makes them perfect as gifts for beginner makeup artists power. They will last about a year or two with almost daily washing in warm water. Warm water will loosen the wood from the brush over time, but that's easily fixed with some crazy glue or nail glue. I would recommend washing them with a facial cleanser that you trust to remove a lot of roughness. I use Kose Oil Based Cleanser or Biores Japanese Cleansing Oil. Both work very well at removing dirt and grime, which is essential for any product that is going to be applied to your face. Don't share facial products with family unless they are thoroughly sanitized, but even then I still don't recommend sharing as everyone has their own skin needs and treatments
