Bought this for our covered front door and I couldn't be happier! After putting the batteries in, hung it on the command bar and left it alone the entire Christmas season. The reason it's so maintenance free is that the battery pack allows you to press a button twice which sets the cadence for each subsequent day - 6 hours on. - 18 hours free That means you can hang it that high with a stool and leave it alone. Really beautiful classic decoration. Added fun - 2 neighbors called to ask where we got it because they wanted one too. It sells itself. Can't wait to hang it up again later this year.
