This purchase was an improvement over a previous pot I bought for a Syrian hamster, the Kaytee Hamster Potty, various colors. Kaytee's is too small for Syrians and better suited for dwarf hamsters. This pot from Ware Manufacturing is the perfect size for my Syrian. I had no problem potty training my Syrian. I brought him home from the local pet store and gave him a few days to get used to his new home before potty training him. Once I put the pot in his cage, I just took some of his poop and sprinkled it on the bedding. He started using the potty that same day and still uses it to this day. This makes it a lot easier to clean his cage! I don't have to worry about trash everywhere. I only change his fountain pen once a week. Also, with the litter included in the Kaytee potty, my Syrian ate a small ball of litter for some reason (I only know this because his pot had less and less litter every day). He stays away from the droppings in this pot production pot which I think is a plus. Note: If you have a CritterTrail habitat, the clips on the back of this pot are too large to fit through the CritterTrail wire cage. I just put mine on the bottom of the cage - no problem with tipping over or anything.
