Best ever Rubbermaid 2 step step stool - hope this one fits

for the rich! So, I got one of them. It fits well under my computer desk because my computer is black. Not only do I use it all the time as a step stool as it is very easy to pick up and use, I also use it under tables and desks to support my legs - 2 tiers to choose from. So that's where I keep them - oh, in the bathroom I also have an old beige one, just outside, on which I also put things - that's a nice low table next to a stool and a footstool. Very convenient. Can't say yet if this one will last as long as the old beige ones which are super durable (decades of hard use). Update November 4, 2021: I am adding some photos and additional comments. Why put so much effort into a review? I'm very small, less than 5 feet, and I know that good step stools (note the plural - we need more than one) can make a big, HUGE difference in the quality of life for little people. Not only do we need step stools to reach tall closets etc, we need things to rest our feet on, where to sit, and we can also use short chairs that our feet are comfortable on the floor. This type of footrest performs all 3 functions very well. I currently have about 5 different types of ladders or small folding ladders. I really like this black one for storage under my computer desk, both as a footstool and as a stool or seat that I can pull out fairly easily. My computer is black, and black hides in shadows better than beige or white. But I have to say, if I could get the beige I've had for decades (and still have a few), I'd go with them again with everything else. There are a few left at Revain (at least they look like the original) but they cost a fortune so I have to leave them to rich people. Another manufacturer's whites are very similar to the original Rubbermaid beiges, but not as high quality as the original. I'm posting photos of all 3. Note the beige's very slim construction - no weird little bumps to bother you. The material just feels a little bigger. Spring . .Rubber instead of hard plastic. The reasons I prefer beige over black is because I often find myself clinging to my stool, the open design of beige (and white) is easier to grab and walk on. It's also lighter in weight. If you're very heavy, maybe the heavier and more closed construction in black is better - maybe all that extra material makes them stronger - but beige has always been pretty strong and durable. I find myself looking for black for a place to move it. There are also rooms, like the bathroom, where I don't hide the step, but use it as a table or chair and I want light colors. I just bought a folding ladder that looks like an old beige but doesn't look that good. I think the reason they changed from the ones I like to foldable ones is probably because a lot of people liked the IDEA of a foldable step stool that you can hide. Retrieving a folded stepladder from its hiding place and then having to unfold it can in practice mean that you simply miss what you actually wanted. The original beige block looked good enough, you can just put it under the table as a footstool or on the side and it looks good - it's not ugly like folding ones. In any case, if you can't afford one of the few remaining vintage beige step stools (I definitely can't - when you add the shipping costs, that's amazing) then black or even white ones from another manufacturer are fine too. If I had no experience with old beiges, I would be happy about others and not complain. But if you're a Rubbermaid representative reading this, please bring back the old beige step stool the way it was - it was perfect! I don't know why some manufacturers have to stop making great products just to make sure they're always up to date. If something is perfect, leave it as it is.

Pros
  • . It's great.
Cons
  • . Not the best.
