Review on USB PC Gaming Microphone For Streaming, Podcasts, Recording On Mac/PS4/PS5 - RGB Control, Mute Touch, Headphone Jack & Pop Filter | FIFINE AmpliGame A8 by Michael Bazen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great sound quality -awkward controls and cable management.

Aesthetically, the design follows closely the A6V (which I recommend looking into). The differences are that the USB-C input is located on the bottom, has the ability to change/turn off the RGB, has a 3.5mm headset monitor jack, and includes a well-made and balanced base stand, instead of a tripod. The connection remains just as easy; just plug and play -no drivers necessary. I even tried it on my PS5 and MB Air. The included cable is long enough to reach the back of the desktop PC from any part of my large desk or mount it to a boom arm (with the provided adapter), as I ended up doing. However, I find the USB-C port on the bottom to be awkward, with cables showing unsightly underneath. The A6V’s connection was on the side, which allowed for tucking the cable neatly under the arm.I appreciate the ability to turn off the RGB. Don’t get me wrong; I love the look and colors when it’s on, but since I do conduct some business meetings, this is a welcome option. Unfortunately, the RGB control is on the back of the mic, again, in an awkward place. The same goes for the gain control knob. It’s located behind right under the shock mount. It is just too cumbersome to adjust when trying to reach behind, especially if the mic is boom arm mounted. I also would’ve liked the gain knob to have a notch to tell when it is at 50% for ease of use.So far, it sounds as if I am not liking the mic, but as soon as I plugged it in and started recording, those issues almost melted away. The sound reproduced by the condenser capsule is very clear and full, with no hint of sibilance or plosives due to the included pop filter. It is also not as tinny and compressed. I will say that the best results happened when speaking directly in from of the mic at about 6-10 inches, at 70/70% gain. You can speak at further distances, but that introduces a lot of ambient noise. This level of performance can be difficult to reach when the mic is mounted on the stand, and you practically must bend over close to it, but it’s really not an issue on the boom arm. The shock mount works very nicely in eliminating feedback when placed on the stand or on the boom arm, especially if you have to mess around with the awkward controls.Look, for the price, it’s an excellent mic. It covers all the technical bases. It performs well above its range as far as sound quality. I wish Fifine had put more thought into the control and cable input placement. If you are looking for a fun-looking, entry-level, good audio quality, gaming/streaming mic at a decent price, this may be the right for you. Plus, you can buy a good boom arm from Fifine with the money you are saving. Just saying.
