Review on Buffalo DriveStation Duo 2 Drive Desktop Data Storage by Nick Walsh

The Drivestation Duo 4TB is well built. The underlying RAID 1 software is fine. However, one of the most important features didn't work for me: an email notification when something is wrong with a drive, for example when a drive is defective. Email notification uses unauthenticated SMTP, which may have worked 10 years ago but is now obsolete. No mail server accepts passwordless SMTP these days. I've called the support center, they can't do anything about it, it seems the company isn't wasting any more time on the software.
