Jaws are not as smooth as advertised

These pliers should have smooth jaws to avoid damaging metal surfaces. It looks like they tried to smooth them out but they didn't do what they did enough. I bought them about two months ago and am just starting my jewelry studio when I discovered this error so I cannot return them. Very disappointed.
