I'm afraid the instructions don't say enough about when to change the filters. There was a lot of different languages but not really a lot of information. Also, there was only one mask in the box, I was expecting a set of spare filters, and the box also said a storage pouch was included. There is no bag in this box! Another problem was that the barcode was pasted over the order number of the replacement cartridge. So I had to look it up by looking up the model number in your docs and matching them.
