Review on Emfogo Floating Shelf with Drawer: Small Rustic Wood Wall Shelves for Stylish Storage and Display - Multiuse Shelf Pack of 2 by Gregory Popo

Installation does not make sense (for me)

These are very nice floating shelves - just right for my bathroom. However, the setup design doesn't make sense unless I'm missing something. To hang the shelves, align the corresponding recesses on the back with the screw heads in the wall. I say grooves because they don't go all the way through the wood (in other words, they don't have through holes). You need to carefully measure 10 inches between the two cut outs, drill holes in the wall, insert plastic anchors, insert screws and leave about 6mm screws sticking out so you can hang the shelf. You'll have to nail down your measurements or you won't be able to line up the screw heads with the not quite holes in the back of the shelf. And even with the screws and holes lined up properly, the shelf hangs slightly forward instead of being flush with the wall. Marking points on the wall and making sure the shelf is level is a huge headache. It would be a lot easier if there were two holes in the back. You can put a spirit level on a shelf and mark two holes on the wall - you don't have to measure anything. To complicate matters, the small drawers have tabs on the inside so you can't pull the drawers out. My workaround: I took a butter knife and carefully knocked out the tabs with a hammer, took out the drawers and drilled holes in them. the back of the shelf. I used needle nose pliers to insert the screws (the inside of the shelf is very narrow), lined up the screws with the holes in the wall and screwed the shelf in place. My advice: throw away the instructions, break the tabs in the drawers and drill two holes in the back. Much easier.
