Timer works almost as expected and as instructed. However, there is one feature (shortcoming) that I don't like. If it is dark in sunset to dark mode (one of 5 time options) and the device is on and you turn off the device with the remote control, the device will not turn on automatically next time either. day at dusk. You must physically approach the device and flip the switch to a different position, then return to the previously selected twilight-to-dark mode. You can still use the remote to turn the device on, but the remote will simply turn off any switch you set. I keep mine in a clear plastic bag as I have seen other reports that it is in fact not waterproof.
