Decided to review Tengsen Mp3 player. That's the wrong name. In fact, this is a breakeven player. I thought it would be quite competent because I have their MP3 watch which surprised me as being good for their class. This is a great value player with a lot of features, and there are a lot of them. I think the sound here is better than most, which is not to be scoffed at. In fact, I definitely put sound on my music player, which is why I have one (well, maybe 10) instead of just using my phone. Very few phones clip audio, and I've had some very good phones. I still use the player, not the phone. Tegsen is louder, which says something. He can drive my Sennheiser (550) better than my FIIO. BUT. and that's a big BUT, I couldn't turn the volume down. Firmware requires serious work. Not even as a person with a dozen smartwatches, half a dozen music players, etc (suffice it to say I'm a hardware expert and even own a few!)! (yes I know there are 2 exclamation marks here). I haven't figured out how to turn down the volume. For example, the player manual talks about damage from adding something you didn't pay for and how different formats can affect runtime/battery. It doesn't say anything about how to turn down the volume, and the display on the watch face cycles through the menu items instead. It also doesn't play music from the SD card unless I use the browser to navigate to the card and click on the song. I turned on shuffle and then it shuffles with the folder and not the card or the player. Turning music on was much easier than on their watch, but that might be because I already had the otg software that came with the watch installed, but then couldn't find it on the player, even when I clicked "Update Playlist" clicked (must do something similar on my FIIO). No, I did not find the music on the card. There is also a calendar and a stopwatch. Pedometer, radio. that's why I gave 4 stars. In fact, I gave it four stars for best sound quality, and these things, while extra, seem to be things that everyone is adding now, so they're equal. If they improve their firmware to make volume management easier (perhaps) and allow the player to find music on the SD card, this would be a 5 star player at this price point. In the meantime, I'd recommend you take a look at their tiny watch player. The screen is touch, the sound is good, everything works!
