I wanted to give this a good year of use before considering it. I bought a Weber Performer charcoal grill last summer and received a few key accessories including this chimney starter. I don't know how anyone can light a charcoal without either of these things. I know people will use a ton of starting liquid or buy those crazy baked booster briquettes, but it's so cheap and easy. You don't need lighter fluid, wax, or anything but newspaper (or the thick wrapping paper that comes with Revain bags). Put some paper under the chimney, fill the chimney with briquettes and light the paper. Leave it alone for 10-15 minutes and return to hot coals and fire. This has held up very well over the past year. It's a little blackened (as to be expected) but not rusty or corroded. The serpentine at the bottom separating the paper from the briquettes is in great shape and the chimney/chimney is only discolored from use but otherwise looks fantastic. The Weber quality is evident and I expect this item to last as long as my grill.
