If you're really gross you can wire the entire keyboard, but that's not a good idea in the long run since the cable bends every time you do this. What I did was slide the keyboard into the case until it got to the cable part. Then I just put the open end in the backpack and take the closed side out of the backpack. A little tricky but I knew I was going to do that when I checked the dimensions. Still worth buying this compared to a fully open keyboard.
