Cheap wood, stripped screws

Bought as a gift for my wife. It looks like it does in the pictures (warning 3 stars), but it's actually made of balsa wood or basswood, kind of like model airplanes. This keeps the screws from snagging at all and I expect the hooks and windshield shelf will fail quickly. I'm a carpenter and my first wish was to build this easily for my wife, but the convenience overwhelmed me so I ordered it. All I got from this purchase was basically a template - I can't live with knowing these glasses will eventually break down. You could make it out of pine and it would be much stronger.
