The workmanship of these mittens is excellent, the materials are excellent, my son's hand is not yet big enough to fit properly so I could use them easy to take them off without unbuttoning the mittens. Velcro or zipper, I hope it lasts at least two winters as it's not exactly cheap, plus it's such a well made product, if it gets too big I'll most likely buy another pair! I like that the sleeves are long, I put them on before he puts on his coat, the sleeves almost reach his elbows, which is great because there is no gap between the coat and the mitten, he needs to stay warm, we haven't played with it in the snow so I haven't tested the waterproof part yet, but chances are it does what it says on the tin.
