Ace did a very basic pull up that was perfect for me, he had a lightweight, glove-like sock that you could just put on your hand and I only had two velcro straps - I can't find this style anywhere else so I had to try something new. I like these braces for the most part (I'm a plus size woman and the bottom strap is a little tight for me, but I never had this problem with her previous brace). Without a sock/glove to put on, the orthosis has to be positioned on the hand/wrist and is definitely more awkward and difficult to put on compared to the gloved version. The main disadvantage of these braces is the smell. It gives off a horrible smell of burnt rubber/chemicals that sticks to the skin after wearing it for a short time. I washed the braces and the smell has reduced a bit. I sprayed some fabric freshener on it, hope it helps (it's still drying). Also, this bandage is very, very hot. Ace's previous design had a neoprene insert with holes punched in to allow your arm to breathe a little - this brace has zero heat dissipation. Those of us with nerve/tendon issues know that the heat isn't our friend - it makes my carpal tunnel and De Quervain's tendonitis really appealing. I would return the braces but I had to wash them before I could wear them.
