Review on πŸ”Œ Ion USB Cassette Tape to MP3 Converter - Tape Express by Hector Smith

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not recommended

Reading reviews where people said they transfer songs within minutes of starting, pop in a cassette and come back an hour later with all the songs in iTunes , they have sold me. I later realized that the reviews were 4 years old. It must have been a different model than the one I received. Some reviews said the device would flip the band automatically, but you had to turn it off because it didn't recognize when the band was off. I read the warning on the disc that came with it and went to their website to download the software for Win. 7, 32/64 bit and loaded without problems. I connected the tape and started the tape, to adjust the volume. Press the record button and restart the tape. When the tape reaches the end of the first track, it turns off. ? How do I write the back? There are no instructions on what to do. I entered the track titles, artist, and album information, hit Done, and flipped the tape over to start recording from the other side. The tape stopped at the end and I repeated the procedure. The software didn't accept the same album title and ended up filling in 2. I was looking for songs in iTunes 11.1.4.62 and finally found them in a "recently added playlist" with no artist or album information. The songs have been rearranged alphabetically so they don't play in the same order as on the tape. Songs were also stored in two folders instead of one. Oh yes, the songs have also been converted to .WAV instead of mp3, so if you plan on playing them on anything other than the Apple device you'll need to convert them to mp3. Bottom line, the device has good sound, no noise cancellation, and doesn't work as advertised. If not, don't pay attention to song transfer problems. Ignore the "tape hiss" and only intend to play songs on the Apple device, then it will do the trick. Some people recommend using the Audacity software, but I haven't tried it. From what I've read, Audacity software is a complex process. May I recommend Ion Tape Express? If you only want to transfer one or two cassettes, this works fine. If you want to send 80 weird tapes like me, try something else. May I recommend Ion Tape Express? If you just want to transfer a tape or two, it works fine.
