Successful or not depends on your application

Unfortunately I find these little adapters a bit unreliable. They seem to significantly reduce the length of cable you can use before losing usable signal / causing reliability issues. I'm not sure why these particular adapters are problematic, but you should look elsewhere, especially if you're trying to do something at USB 3 speeds.
