Review on 🚴 Roadmaster Toddler Classic 34-inch Ride-On Toy with 8-inch Wheels by David Will

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Just one problem: Tractor Vans

My nice station wagon/garden truck was stolen a few weeks ago and is now worth $100. I no longer need a sturdy one so I bought this for light gardening work left over from 10 years of hard work. I wasn't expecting much from this $60 combo, but I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the steel and the overall design. The reason I lowered my rating to 4 stars instead of 5 is because there is an issue that was causing a headache and ended up taking two hours to build. Among the bolts is one that is twice the size of all the others. This is a specially threaded 3/8 bolt that is the pivot point of the front wheel. It has a special rectangular nut (1-1/2 length by 1/2 width). The nut has a lip on one side, and that lip needs to go through the entire front wheel mount. The problem is that the outside diameter of the lip is wider than the inside lip of the hole that needs to fit. I tried filing the lip to make it narrower but that didn't work. I eventually had to give up using this bolt and nut combo and go to my shop and get a longer bolt long enough for me to use a double nut. The tension must be right so that the front wheel spins but does not wobble or wobble. It also requires lubrication between the surfaces of the parts involved and they don't provide it. Another visit to my workshop. I see others complaining about the lack of lock washers. The truth is, some screws have them and some don't. So a trip to my workshop. But when I finally had everything together, I was satisfied. I've been a sheet metal apprentice for ten years, so there's no lack of manual experience. While happy with my results, I don't see how the average guy with limited mechanical knowledge would be so happy. So personally I put 4 because I like what I got. But for others, hmm.
