I sometimes have fine *dark* hair and instead of plucking (blonde is never strong enough) I decided to try this one. Since my hair is fine, this device cuts or breaks it rather than pulling it out by the root no matter how I "stretch" the skin, making it act more like an electric razor. I end up leaving it running while watching TV aimlessly, and it works quite well that way. It's through batteries. I won't buy another one if it dies.
