Review on Maxpedition BFW Fold Wallet Black by Daniel Ogbebor

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not a typical double fold. That's why I love it!

This Maxpedition BFW is *almost* exactly what I've been looking for for a long time! let me explain. My favorite wallet is an old "Zero" skateboard wallet that I had in the late 90's/early 00's (see photo below). Made from black ripstop nylon, it has endured nearly two decades of world travel, motorcycling and constant everyday use. In fact, this wallet helped me get out of a very difficult international situation where I was actually kidnapped and forced to teach English in another country against my will (long story)! One of my favorite features of this amazing Zero Skate wallet is its uniquely large and square shape, which allows me to hold bills of any size, even foreign currency, as well as additional cards when needed in the "Bills" slot, while saving overall is the wrap is comfortably thin as it is constructed with only one gusset, eliminating excess material and extra stitching that most "double gussets" have. Unfortunately, my Zero wallet has come to the point where the material around the edges is so thin that I can no longer easily repair it. This has devastated me as despite constant searching over the years I have not been able to get another wallet like this! Sign up for Maxpedition BFW. When I saw it I thought it was too good to be true. "A foldable nylon wallet with a large square design? Absolutely not!" However, after reading the reviews, I felt like I should at least risk it. And I'm glad I did! The BFW is almost the same size as my old Zero wallet ( less than a year old) and VERY similar. in progress. The nylon material is a different pattern but feels exactly the same in the hand. I was immediately drawn to the large bill compartment and slim profile. After a day of use, it really took off Maxpedition adapted to me and after the first week I completely forgot I was carrying a new wallet in my back pocket.was as comfortable as my ten year old Zero!So why did I give this wonderful wallet 4 stars and not 5?Well my Zero -Wallet had some features that were a bit more civilian friendly than this Maxpedition First, where there is a large see-through window inside (no doubt the size of a military ID) mine had Zero a small pocket with Velcro and space for another credit card. The Zero had another small Velcro pocket on the back which I found useful from time to time and didn't add any noticeable thickness to the overall design. Another feature I liked about the Zero is the thin Velcro that holds the wallet halves together. Maxpedition has no fasteners, so the halves slide independently. Not a big deal, but the Zero's design was a little better. I appreciate that the Maxpedition has an extra card slot on the left compared to my Zero, but that's not enough to give it a full star back. Overall I am very satisfied with the Maxpedition BFW. It's very well made and I expect it will serve me just as well and as long as the Zero. If I ever come across another Zero I will definitely buy it. Meanwhile, this wallet goes with all the basics, is great for travel, and offers incredible value at almost any price point! Try this style in just a few weeks! Highly recommended!
