Newbie Opinion - Expensive for what you get

Not sure I'm able to give an honest review of climbing shoes as I'm a total newbie to the sport am, but I'll try. First of all these shoes are well made, I don't think they will fall apart anytime soon. I like the straps and fabric details, everything above the sole. The good thing is that the heel has straps to put on shoes and it's soft and smooth so heels don't irritate. I also like that the sizing goes up a quarter size because it seems like it will help you find the perfect fit. However, I still couldn't find the perfect fit (I tried them on in store before ordering). For some reason the shoes at my climbing gym still feel better on my feet than this one. Unfortunately, the shape of the toe box doesn't really suit my feet and I feel uncomfortable after an hour of climbing. The shoes are very poor for walking (not that it matters) but ironically they don't seem to provide the support I was hoping for when climbing. The outsole flexes too much in the wrong places and the toe rubber isn't as grippy as I would like. The rubber actually feels slippery than the rubber in my regular shoes (minimal running/hiking shoes). So yes. as i said i am an absolute noob and have only tried a few pairs of climbing shoes and certainly don't know many techniques yet, but i just got the impression that the price of these shoes is too high for what you are.

Pros
  • Vibram XS Edge offers incredible grip and durability
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
