Good corner shelf for home decor accents

I took 320 grit sandpaper and hand sanded a small shelf, I really didn't like the dark color. Then I just added cooking oil. I don't know what kind of wood it is, but it's very light and dark. But it will do the trick. about 10:00 on each shelf, I think everything is fine.
