Putting things in perspective

As a photographer, I have long recognized the benefits of good lighting and ring lighting when taking pictures. In the age of Zoom, this has become even more important. Anyone with a laptop with a built-in camera has likely used Zoom or one of its competitors during the current pandemic. Many people have no idea how to shine presentably. It's not just about making sure the face is lit and there aren't any bright lights in the background. (In the latter case, auto-iris tends to obscure the face in shadows and burn out the screen around the backlight.) For example, if the computer camera is on a wall, all lights should be turned off as well. Page and will create dramatic shadows and/or highlight any small imperfections in the skin, with disastrous results. Remember the scene from the original Frankenstein film when the monster sees itself. Ring lights placed along the camera axis add a nice soft light to smooth out blemishes and wrinkles as ring lights are not point sources. That's exactly what this lamp does. But he does more. You can control the color balance. If the image is too blue or too red, you can adjust it. You can also adjust the brightness. I found this very useful when I wanted my background to stand out but wanted more light on my face. Auto-brightness on most computer cameras helps you adjust to these light changes. (Perfectionists might want to manually control these things.) This flashlight comes with a clip designed for laptops. My desktop monitor was too wide for the clip, but luckily there is a shelf just above the monitor that I clipped onto. By mounting on the ball head, you can adjust the ring light so that it illuminates the face well. The ring light is powered by connecting to a USB port on a computer. The kit comes with a device that holds a cell phone instead of a ring light. Unfortunately, it cannot be used at the same time as the ring light. I hate being rude, but my girlfriend is a lady of a certain age. (I'm quick to admit I'm ten years older.) She's happy with how the ring light compares to other lights on the screen. Also, let me add that I find them pretty cute, even without the ring lights.
